Second muzzle brake session.

Installed 11# recoil spring. First shot with 147gr Freedom ammo ejected, but barely. I thought just MAYBE it would work, but 6/12 failed to eject. Thinking that the spring needed some breaking in, I ran 125 rounds of Speer Lawman, which ran perfectly. Switched back to the Freedom.....same old same o...

Re: which recoil spring with which striker spring

Depends on the loads you're shooting. My RSA is a guide rod for a Glock 17 Gen 3. You'll also need the adaptor for a Glock Gen 4. Recoil spring is a 13# flat wire. Recently, I installed a muzzle brake which fail to eject my match loads (147fmj/950fps), so I've replaced the 13# with an 11#, yet to be...

First time with the muzzle brake.

Got to the gun club early this morning with several different loads. Here's the dope on what I tried: Freedom Munitions 147fmj: This is my match load which I was keeping my fingers crossed for. Muzzle flip was negligible and very soft shooting. Unfortunately, every shot was a FTE. I'm using a 13# re...

Re: COCKING LEVER

Mine ran in about halfway before stalling out. I just took a screwdriver and ran it in the rest of the way.

Re: Has anyone here added a threaded barrel and compensator to their SFX?

While I agree that a 147gr 9mm at 950fps is low recoil, the thing you want to reduce is muzzle jump....which again is kinda minimal in the 9. The threaded bbl is, to my knowledge, only available at Preppers. Ebay has lots of compensators. I bought the one for the S&W M&P. I was chatting with one of ...

Re: Has anyone here added a threaded barrel and compensator to their SFX?

This is the last of the mods I'm considering. ROFL! We shall see... There is always another cool new mod. Lessee.....I've got the FS trigger, Talon grips, Vortex Venom, TF magwell and mag extensions, 13# recoil spring assembly, and 6.5# striker spring. At this point, the barrel and comp are about t...

Has anyone here added a threaded barrel and compensator to their SFX?

This is the last of the mods I'm considering. Curious as to which compensator you chose, why you chose it, where did you get it, how much was it, ease of mounting, and DOES IT WORK? Any help is welcome. Thx.

New SFX adds.....

Yesterday was my lucky day with the USPS. My new Vortex Venom arrived, along with my new magwell and +4 extensions from Taylor Freelance. I started with the Venom, which mounted easily enough after my addled brain brought it to my attention that...."YOU'RE TRYING TO MOUNT IT BACKWARDS, DUMMY"...

Re: First use in a match - Finally

I went through a lot of Freedom's ammo without a hitch, but I believe they switched primer brands or bought a bad batch because I've had several light strikes in both the Glock and the SFX.

Re: Vortex sight

I understand there's a learning curve that goes with it. Never shot a red dot before, but one of the guys at our last match really talked it up. I'll let you all know how it goes.

Vortex sight

I finally broke down are just finished ordering a new Vortex Venom for my SFX. Now comes the question I should have asked BEFORE I ordered.....which MOA dot is the best? I'll be using this for USPSA matches along with Steel Challenge. I ordered the 6MOA. Did I make a boo-boo, or did I do OK? (This i...

Re: First match...

Thats good. Wish I would have tried comp shooting when I was younger. I'm pushing 73 and shoot Steel Challenge and USPSA matches. There is a category for us geezers....Super Seniors. I usually finish middle of the pack somewhere. Can't move like 40 years ago, but I don't do badly. There are guys ol...

Re: Fobus?

I went ahead and ordered a Comp-Tac International. I don't want or need any levers or buttons to hit to draw. My club doesn't require it and my CCW holsters don't have such a thing. I really want to try the Drop-Offset option on the Comp-Tac. If I like it I'll pick up one for my 1911 pistols. This ...

Re: Fobus?

If you don't mind my asking......why a Fobus? I bought one of their paddle style holsters when I got my G34 (it was all the dealer had that would fit). The paddle wouldn't clamp solidly over the belt and half the time when I drew, I got the holster with the gun. Tried adjusting the tension out and t...

Re: Some questions on the SFX for those in the know.

Thanks for the replies. Let me rephrase this just a bit. I use the Ghost 6.5# striker spring with a 13# ISI flat coil spring for my match loads (147gr/950fps). If I switch back to some 115gr/1100fps loads, or 147gr/1050fps (Speer Lawman) and put back in the stock RSA, will that striker spring cause ...
